It's over in Augusta 2-1 over The Newt's

The dog's are on their way home from a successful road trip to Augusta ME. In the last game this morning the Dog's triumphed on two breakaway goals by Cathy Silva to defeat the New England Travelling Selects 2-1 with Sue going the distance in goal. The Dog's outshot the Newt's 13-10. Seems like a close one. I joked with Sue and asked if Silva's goals were shorthanded. Close breakaway's.

In last nights 5-2 victory here are the stats:

Shots were 33-13 in favour of the Dog's.

Lesley Matthews - 1 goal 1 assist
Cathy Silva -  2 goals 2 assists
Denise Davis - 2 goals
Trish Devine -  1 assist
Amy Mulvey -  2 assists

That's it for now. Go Dog's

The Black Dog's played the Maine Mosquitos tonight and came away with a hard fought victory 5-2. Terry was solid in net in this one. They will play the same team in the consolation game tomorrow at 8:15 AM. Sue said they all played well and are looking forward to tomorrow's game and the next five weeks of practice. Look for tomorrow morning's update around 9:00 AM.

National's Info

Here are some links for you for the Nationals in Rochester. The schedule has been made they are ready to go.

The games start for the Dog's at 8:15 AM Friday morning March 27 against the Mid-American squad.

Check these links out for more info:

That's it for now.

Ouch 8-1 Loss

The Dog's got their butts kicked by some 20 something's from Connecticut 8-1. Mike said the rugrats were all over the place like energizer bunnies playing well together with only seven players, yikes. It's tough keeping up with kids when they all played D-1 or D-2 hockey. Well that being said it's on to the next game, see you in the finals kids.

More updates as they come in around 8:00PM.

The Black Dog's victorious 8-1

The report from Mike at ice level is that the Black Dog Women's Ice Hockey team has been triumphant in their first game. The team had a great game with many players scoring in an 8-1 victory over the Kennebec Savings Bank. The score after one period was 5-0. Terry took over for Sue in net for the 2nd and 3rd periods and turned back 7 shots while allowing only one powerplay goal.

Looks like everyone had a hand in this one. More details to come and Mike reports that the team is playing great. The team is playing really well together. We have seen them show flashes of this from time to time but now it looks like they are ready for the challenge ahead.

More to come when Sue reports in with some stats from the game. They are real busy tomorrow with two games.

Dogs take Edmonds Tourney for Third Straight Year

Black Dog hockey is back! The team of 07' showed up in Gloucester this weekend for the annual Darcy Edmonds tournament. The team was back to it's old tricks losing the Friday opener to the Bears 3-1 but bounced back on Sat. morning for a 2-1 win over the Incroyable's from Montreal. The afternoon game was a game against the MA No Stars with a 4-0 Dog's victory. This put them in the medal round against the Wildcat's which the Dogs won handily 5-0. The championship game was a rubber match with the Bear's and the Dog's were really amazing winning 3-1, highlighted by a first period goal by Paula Casey.
Cathy Silva snapped her scoreless streak with three goals for the tourney and VeeAnn also netted a couple. The biggest hooray goes to Denise for her incredible comeback. She provided a huge spark to the team with her first goal in while and showed why she is such a huge asset to the team.

Capt. Laurie Raymond shows the Edmond Tourney trophy to her teammates at the award ceremony.

It was all smiles before the action started by Amy Mulvey and Tricia Devine.

Take a look at this questionable call by the ref (you mean they don't award penalty shots for being tripped from behind on a break away). Cathy Silva makes it look easy.

Congratulations Cape Cod Black Dogs

Ladies - It was a great run this season! Thanks to everyone who played a part in your success. We all had a great time at Mark's and I know the bus ride home was just as much fun. See you all in the summer or fall, maybe even in April.

The site will see some changes in the next week or so. My son Andy is creating a banner for the top reflecting a more long term approach to this blog. I will put up another slide show from the 08' Nats to go along with the 07' version sometime this week. I have more video and never before seen photos so keep checking in. I have some neat video from the victory and I may put that together with all the other stuff for a 4 minute job I'll put up on youtube and link to from the web site.

Keep in touch

It's Over in OT - Black Dog's 1 RBK Snipers 2

The Dog's played the top seed in their division last night and came out and played Black Dog Hockey. The spark, hustle and checking which is their trademark threw a scare into the top team. The Dog's took the champ to the ropes a number of times and put the game into an extra stanza. The overtime showed that RBK was really nervous with things getting a little chippy but in the end it was not to be and one made it by Sue to end their title defense.
The heart and soul of this team showed itself in this one for sure. Everyone was on their game and were always putting the pressure on.
Hat's off to the Black Dog's for and incredible run this season and keep looking to this web site as I add more stuff from the tourney.

More Good News

The Black Dog's are still in and have qualified for the quarter finals. The news just came in from Laurie that they just made it in by a point according to Mark, Laurie's brother who took the call. So we are back off to the rink again. We'll keep you posted!

The Good and the Bad - Tampa Bay 4-1

The good news the dogs have a chance to get into the quarter finals, the bad news is they lost to Tampa Bay 4-1. The last seven minutes of play was a joy to watch, the rest not so much. But all and all the other team was pretty good. We are awaiting word from Laurie now as to what the team's status is. We'll let you all know when we find out.

Dog Day Afternoon

The dogs are not having a good day. The score after two periods is Tampa Bay 4 Black Dogs 1. I'll keep you updated at the end of the game.

Who Let the Dogs Out

The Black Dog's pulled out ahard fought victory over the Missouri Hericanes 3-2. More to come later on tonight.

Just a little action video to keep you going - not great just a taste.

The team ran into a small problem on the way to Philadelphia, the bus broke down on the expressway. We all stopped and tried to help but it was to no avail. We headed back to Raymond's house and have no idea what is going on. So you all are in the dark as much we. I will blog from the game another update.

Ciao!

Good game wrong outcome

These photos are third period action. This game was pretty good for a starter. Utah is much younger but the Dogs have played better. The goal was a bit of a snorer. Sue had it in her arm pit but the goal was still counted. Sue was pulled in the third for a sixth skater and alot of action took place in the Utah end but to no avail.
More to come.

Final Score Black Dogs 0 Utah 1

Final update with photos and video to come in the next hour or so.
